First Sunday of Advent – Hope and Quiet Waiting

1 Peter 1:3“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”

Sovereign God, You are Creator and Sustainer of all things and all time. Your promises are always Kept, and You promise hope in Your coming.

Daniel 12:3“Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”

Forgive me when during this season I focus more on myself, my family, and our worldly customs than on You and Your Light. My preparations for the celebration of the birth of Christ often cause me to miss His presence.

Psalm 68:19“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation.”

Please make me steadfast in my focus on Your gift of salvation. I long for Your peace and security.

John 8:12“…I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

Help me seek time for quiet reflection on Your gift of Light Which dispels the darkness. Use me to offer this Light to those around me.
